Celebrate that you finally made it through the week with five awesome family events around the Milwaukee area. Every weekend, we at Doering Real Estate Group scour the city and suburbs and handpick 5 things that we’re excited about.

Train and Trolley Rides from the East Troy Railroad Museum

Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

$8 – Kids 3 to 14 | $12.50 – Adults | Free – Kids Under 3

 Take a 14-mile round trip from East Troy to Mukwonago, with a stop at the Elegant Farmer. Well-maintained and heated historic rail cars let you experience rail travel on the last segment of electric interurban line in Wisconsin. Trains depart on the hour from our historic depot at 2002 Church Street in East Troy – 35 minutes southwest of Milwaukee on I-43. Gift shop, rest rooms and museum are in the depot.

 

Earth Day Finale at Retzer Nature Center (Free!)

 

Saturday, April 28th

Retzer Nature Center (S14 W28167 Madison St, Waukesha, WI 53188)

Free events will offered throughout the day for the whole family to enjoy: hiking, children’s crafts and activities, special programs, planetarium shows, campfire with s’mores, bird watching, a volunteer project, a community mural,a family concert at 3:00 p.m., a campfire with s’mores from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., and more. This special event coincides with the Grand Opening of Retzer Nature Center’s new interactive exhibit space, open from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.! The center includes a hands-on section in which kids can dump recycling into a truck, learn how to sort, and learn what is made from recycled materials. The event will end with a twilight hike at 7:15. Kids can use flashlights to search for nocturnal animals.

Saturday, April 28th

Betty Brinn Children’s Museum (929 E Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53202)

Purchase the following products at Sendik’s Food Markets and receive one free admission to the Museum on Saturday, April 28, when presenting their receipt: (One admission per product.) Loaf of Breadsmith bread, Fyffes bananas (2 lbs. or more) or one pineapple, any Kemps Sweet Me super premium ice cream, Joyful Scoops frozen yogurt or half-gallon of flavored milk, any Sargento Balanced Breaks® or Snack Bites®.

 

Families can enjoy the museum’s special exhibits, including “Velocity” and “Let’s Play Railway!”. They can also enjoy old favorites like the pretend Sendik’s Food Market in Home Town.  The Museum’ Be A Maker space will host a printmaking workshop featuring the color red and visitors that present one of the signature, red Sendik’s Food Markets bags will receive a special discount on any Museum membership purchase.

Bayshore Town Center at 2:00 p.m.

Bring the family and enjoy this complimentary performance from some great musicians. While you’re there, you can play in the kid’s play area near the food court and explore the kid’s area in Barnes & Noble.
